Colors Everywhere!

Like a lot of other people did this weekend, I went to the Hindu Color Festival. It's an Indian celebration of how they welcome spring. They welcome it by chanting a song and throwing colored chalk everywhere. I went last year with my friends and I knew that I wanted to go again. This year was a lot of fun! Of course, when hundreds and maybe even thousands of people throw colored chalk at people and in the air, it covers you completely! It is kind of funny seeing when you shower afterwards and the water is purple for a few minutes just getting all the chalk off your skin. Good times! I'm going next year!

Poems

For my children's literature class I had to come up with 5 poems of my own. I'm not that great when it comes to doing this sort of thing but I'm proud of what I've done. Here are the poems I wrote. I hope you enjoy them! P.S. My professor was so impressed with my first poem that she used it for sharing with the rest of the class. :) cool huh?

Fear

A clown at a carnival

A bee on a flower

A cop driving by

Loneliness

A snake at your feet

The end of the world

On top of a tall building

Monsters in your closet

Falling

Fear

My Bed

I shimmy into my nice, warm sheets

As my head and my pillow gladly meet.

I look out the window and see a moonbeam,

Wondering what I am going to dream.

I close my heavy eyelids and suddenly yawn,

Knowing all of the days worries are gone.

For tomorrow, my fiancé and I will wed,

But for now, I’m madly in love with my bed.

Allred

Yup I met John Allred back in November. Awesome guy! :)
If any of you that are reading this post have NEVER heard about John Allred, Well now you are going to listen to him. He is an amazing LDS musician who plays really good acoustic music. He just barely played a new song that I am in love with! Click HERE to listen to it! Enjoy!

Spring Break

So it's officially spring break and here are some things that have been going on since Friday.

  • My mom entered to win a free furnace on Fridays on 101.9 The end and SHE WON! It's worth $5000 with installation! woot! Her whole excuse that day was "I don't care, I won a free furnace today!"
  • Friday was also my parent's wedding anniversary. Mom, Dad, Phil and I went to Chili's and to a movie. We watched Unknown with Liam Neeson. It was actually a pretty good movie. It was like a mix between taken and inception....kinda. but it was really fun to be with the family.
  • Sunday I went to the CES fireside at the institute and it was very good. I also helped out my mom with her primary class. I love her class to death!
  • I am taking off the wallpaper in my room! Goodbye pink with white polka dots! I have been taking down the wallpaper all day today and I'm almost done with one wall! Woot! I'm so ready for it to be gone! I'm hoping that I can get most of the wallpaper off before I head back down to Snow. I will post pictures of it when I get the paint done. :)
That's all for now. Will tell you more later this week!

Smells

Through all the frozen winter
My nose has grown most lonely
For lovely, lovely colored smells
That come in springtime only.

The purple smell of lilacs,
The yellow smell that blows
Across the air of meadows
Where bright forsythia grows.

The tall pink smell of peach trees,
The low white smell of clover
And everywhere the great green smell
Of grass the whole world over

Walks

Thank you for asking me to go on a walk. I definitely needed it.
