Unexpected gifts in life

So this past week has been AMAZING! Let me explain first...

Lately in my life I've just had a lot of moments by myself or with my family which I love and I believe that everyone should have those moments in life. I've missed having a very good friend in my life. I felt like sometimes I can't call a friend when I'm feeling down or something like that. Well I've been wanting someone to come into my life and become involved as a friend.

This week changed things....a lot. :)

I only thought that this person would just say hi to me once a week but I totally thought wrong. One night of talking can make a whole difference for a persons life. I guess it was something that I was looking for. I found out that this person is an amazing, awesome, and wonderful person. We both have quite a bit in common and it makes me become more open with this person. It's definitely been a while since I've been this open with a guy. I know you probably hear that a lot from me but this one is definitely different. :) It definitely makes me think about what I want in life at the moment.

Sometimes I Procrastinate

So yeah I'm sorry it's been a while....a long while since I last updated my blog! I'll try to be better at it! Okay, so here's whats been going on since my last update.

-To get this over with, work has been the same as usual. Nothing to grand going on there. Just working a lot. We did get new food items at McDonald's and it's the Caramel Apple Parfait and the Caramel Apple Sundae. I'm not too big on the parfait just because I don't like them but the Caramel Apple Sundae.....YUM!!! If you ever go, get one :) it's so wonderful...it's like christmas in a bowl.

-Also at work, I've been learning some espanol! Ole! :) haha it's been fun. My co-worker Jose has been teaching me what to say in certain situations at work and how to greet people. I'm also learning the different foods in spanish as well.

-About 2 weeks ago, my friend Summer asked me if I could go with her to Texas to help move her daughters down to her sisters. She didn't want to be the only one driving alone and so I went with her. We went through Montecello to the Four Corners to Colorado then down to Albequerque to Lubbock,TX then to Harker Heights, TX where we dropped the girls off. Then we turned right around and went back home. We started our trip on Friday at 3:30pm and didn't get back home til Monday at 8:30pm. Total miles was about 2600 miles. It was quite the trip but it was a lot of fun. We had a dog with us named George who was actually really good during the trip, we thought he was going to be sick. On our way back we went through Moab and saw the beautiful red rocks. :) I brought home some glass thimbles for my mom from each state that I was in. She has them in her sewing room.

-So this past weekend, we had a birthday bash where we celebrated all the September birthdays. Stuart was playing in Salt Lake opening for Jason Derulo. He was in his awesome band Profetik. They have some pretty good music! Then on Monday we went to the Living Planet Aquarium in Sandy where we saw all the different animals that live in water...some weren't like spiders....totally not supposed to be there haha. But then we went to the Pi and ate yummy Pizza. We had cake and ice cream and trifle. Good day overall.

-So now I'm just living life to the best that I possibly can. Working a lot and spending a lot of time with my family. My mom and I have become very close. Her and I will do lots of things together like shopping, watching movies and TV shows. We've been into a lot of TV shows lately. Friday Night Lights ended a while back and then Rookie Blue just ended (sad face!) for the season though. it'll be back....next spring... anyway, we're going to get into the TV Shows Whitney and the The Sing-Off. I heard that Vocal Point or Voice Male (one of the two) are going to be on the show so look out for them! :)

-It's crazy because a lot of my friends are on missions. I have 2 of my girl friends that got their calls and are leaving in the next month or two. Jami is going to New Zealand and Kaitlyn is going to Arizona! woot! It's got me thinking a lot about a mission and I've been going on splits with the sister missionaries. I have about 10 of my good friends that are out on missions and some of them will be home before I leave...yeah I'm gonna go on a mission. I decided to go a while ago and everything that talks about a mission....the spirit just hits me so strong and I start getting emotional....yeah I'm going. :) I figured out that I can turn in my mission papers in January and then get my call around March-ish. That's my plan right now. It could change....I'm just leaving it up to the Lord.

Life in the fast lane!

It's crazy but this Summer has come and gone in the blink of an eye. It's been such a quick summer that I feel like I missed out on so many things! Here are some things that have happened recently that I have done.

I got an iPad 2! :) I love it so much! It's so fun and you can do so many things with it! Here are some pictures I took!
Yesterday I went to Marcus's 1st Birthday Party! It was Cookie Monster themed and it was adorable! It was good to see family there and to see Marcus get all messy with his birthday cake.
I've been helping my mom with her primary class whenever I'm home from school or whatnot and in the class there are 6 girls and 1 boy. That one boy is named Deryck. So yesterday, in sharing time, we were talking about being clean and pure so we can go to the Temple and there were different things you should do and one of them was to not swear or use naughty words. Deryck automatically said "Like Dammit?" Oh boy....We were all laughing! I was telling him that it wasn't a good word and that he shouldn't say it anymore. haha kids....

So my friend/co worker Sara had her baby this past week and so Gretta and I went to the hospital to go visit her! :) Her name is Dannifer Ann Marie Taylor Durquette. Wow! What a name! but Beautiful! I got to hold her for a little while and she's so tiny! She was born 5 pounds 5 ounces.

I'm also trying to redecorate my room. It's hard getting the motivation and the time to do it but It's always on my mind so hopefully I'll get it done soon.

Other than the things above and working, that's about all I'm doing. My life is pretty boring. No dating life...

Dear Mr. Potter

So I'm a huge fan of Harry Potter. I saw all the movies and read 95% of the books (don't ask). It's crazy how it's all coming to an end in 2 ish days. My awesome cousin Jessica and I are going to a midnight showing of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 on Thursday Night in Salt Lake. I'm so stoked to see it! I think it'll be really good! It's very strange that one of my favorite childhood series is going to end, movie wise. It all started so long ago and now it's gone by so fast. I will definitely give you guys a review on the movie for all you followers out there. I'll also be doing another post about a new toy I'll be getting in the next few days. All is well with me. Just busy with work. :) Love you all

<3 Emily

Happiness

Today was just one of those days where you wish you were unconscious throughout the whole day but the things that were supposed to happen, happened while you were unconscious. Does that make sense? I hope it does. Anyway, so 80% of today was not so good. I didn't get much sleep last night and then I didn't have a very good day today.

Tonight, my mom and I got talking which I love doing. My mom and I get on the most awesome topics ever. She told me that I should learn to be happy with myself before letting another guy into my life. I loved how she said that. I need to be like the girl off Eat Pray Love. I need to just be with me for a while. Think about things I've never thought of before. Go on adventures. Meditate. Become more closer to my Heavenly Father. Things like that.

I really don't want to have the worries of "Does he like me?" or "Will he ask me on a date?" It should be more about what I want in my life and who I want to be. The character that I want to be is what I will be working on for now. I encourage you to do the same. It's nice to meditate for a while each day. I watch the stars at night for at least a half an hour. I love it. Have one of those calming, relaxing moments every day of your life. It'll make your day better. Trust me. :)

Twenty Years

Today I'm turned 20 years old. WOW! I honestly remember when I was 9 turning 10 and I thought it was so awesome that I was hitting the double digits. Time has flown by! I'm now 20! There are no more teenagers in my family. Weird....

This past year has been very interesting. So many things have happened.

This year I've become very addicted to writing missionaries. I've never really written many friends or family who are serving missions but this year I've written so many of my amazing friends that I've grown up with or that I've met down at Snow.

I've finished up my associate degree at Snow. This year was quite difficult for me because of the classes I was taking but I finished. I graduated and I'm so happy to be home now.

This past year I've become closer to my parents. They are my closest, best friends ever. I love them so much and I'm so incredibly lucky to have parents like mine. My siblings have helped me as well. I love spending time with my family and I know that my family will always be there for me, no matter what.

I've grown spiritually this year. As most of you guys know, down at Snow I was the Relief Society President of a student ward. It was one of the hardest callings I've ever had in my life but at the same time it was one of those life changing moments in my life. I got to know the girls in my ward so well. There were tough times where I felt like I couldn't do anything at all but the Lord was really looking after me at Snow. I got to feel things that I've never felt before.

Thank you to everyone who were a part of my life this past year. I hope that you will be in many of my years to come. I love you all and I'm so excited for the many years I have to come! :)

What the...what the heck!?

Today is one of my best friends birthday. She is an amazing friend to me and today she is 20 years old. Kudos to you for living this long and for many more to come. We've had some pretty awesome memories together. Here are a few of Janessa and I.Snow College Homecoming 2009. The football game we had so much fun but I remember that night for the homecoming dance, we went for a while just stag until we went home cried our eyes out and had ice cream. :) That was a funny night how we were crying about different things but the ice cream helped us.

Janessa and I were registering for spring semester 2010 in her room and the computer was being dumb so we made our whimpy faces :) I remember laughing pretty hard afterwards.
Winter of 2009. Our crazy adventures of going out in the cold at midnight playing in the snow. Making snow angels in the middle of the road, sliding on our stomaches over the snow, and making cool pictures with 'fog'. So much fun!
Sweethearts Dance Feb 2010. Janessa and I doubled and it was so much fun! We made food and danced the night away! :) I love this picture.
Our Birthday Bash last year. We all came to my house and had a party with pizza and cake and movies! :) That was one of my favorite weekends.

Happy Birthday Janessa! :) Live this next year the best you possibly can! I love you!
(P.S. There is another post I updated last night that you should read for all you followers)

4 8 15 16 23 42

For those of you who know these numbers from an awesome TV show, I have recently become addicted to it.
So I started watching LOST about a week and a half ago. I don't have a job quite yet so I just spend a lot of my time at home plus I don't have a car. I am currently on Season 3 Episode 2 or 3. I'm loving how the movie will flash back to the different people on the island and what they were like before the crash and how they've changed on the island. I'm still hooked on it and am loving every episode. :)

Car Accident and a Tooth Infection

So there is a lot thats happened in the past week or two. I just haven't had time to update my blog and I honestly don't know how to put it in words. So if you guys have already read about my accident on Facebook, then skip this next part for the rest of my blog.

I was driving to Lake Point from Woods Cross last night and I was on I-80 passing the rest stop just before you turn into Lake Point when I heard my front passenger tire start humming. I started to slow down because I knew it was going to pop sometime soon. Seconds later the tire popped and I started to slowly steer to the right to get off the road when I lost control of the car. My car swerved to the left and hit the middle metal barrier with the front of my car then the car spun while against the barrier and it hit the passenger side of the car. My car spun to the point where my car was at an angle and the front of my car was facing oncoming traffic. I took off my seatbelt and made sure that my body was okay before moving. I found my phone then started to open my front door but couldn't because the hood of my car had blocked the outside of my front door. I started to panic and moved to the passenger side door and I could only open the door about 4 inches and nothing more. I then started to honk my horn just in case someone could hear while I started to kick the door trying to get it open. I looked through the partially broken windshield. I noticed that my headlights were all out and that there was a car heading right towards me. I started to really hyperventilate thinking that my life was going to be over. I prayed saying "Heavenly Father please save me" I stared at the car coming towards me and saw that it moved into the other lane. I then started to calm down just a little bit. I heard something outside the car move and then my front door opened. A guy came and grabbed my hand saying "Your car is in the middle of the lane, we gotta get out of here" He yanked me out of the car and we ran north of where the car was, away from the barrier. There was a police officer and also another lady there. The lady was a nurse and she put her arm around my waist just in case I was going to fall or whatnot and she started checking me for injuries. The only injuries I really got from the whole accident was whiplash and a few pieces of glass that scratched me. I called my mom and was talking to her (while in very bad shock) when the lady holding me up was like "Oh my gosh that truck is going to hit the car" I look at my car and see this guard truck coming right at the car and so the people with me started ducking and stuff waiting for the crash but the guy in the truck stopped about 5 feet away from the car. I was talking to my mom still then I headed to the bumper of my car because I was shaking so badly and I felt my knees starting to give way. I sat on the bumper of my car (because the back half of my car was in good shape) and everything just sunk in and I started crying. police officers were asking me what happened. A fire truck came and checked me out to see if I had a concussion or whatnot. They checked my blood pressure and it was pretty high from all the shock. The nurse left and then my parents and Stuart showed up. My parents were just around me calming me down and Stuart was taking video and pictures of the whole accident. The tow truck came and took the car away then I had to fill out a statement saying what happened and everything. Then I came home and told my brother Phil what happened. I took a shower then went to bed. This morning I woke up soooo sore. My whole body is really sore, especially my back. But I'm incredibly lucky to be alive in the condition that I'm in right now. The Lord was really looking after me last night and I'm eternally indebted to him.

So I only had a few days of being sore from whiplash but overall, I'm fine. About 3 days after the accident I started to have a tooth ache. I would take ibuprofen for the whiplash and then for the toothache. 2 days later, I woke up to the left side of my face totally swollen. UGH! haha Not good. I called the dentist and I got an appointment in the same day. I went in and the nurse would tease me that I had something in my mouth because it was swollen but the dentist said that I'm going to have to get this tooth pulled. yikes! Huge tooth infection. So he gave me antibiotics and some lortab for the swelling and the pain. over the past few days the swelling has definitely gone down which I'm happy about. :) I'm not too excited about the whole getting the tooth pulled but I'd rather have it pulled than constantly having an infection haha

2 years at Snow College

I've spent my last 2 years here in Ephraim, Utah studying all these different subjects to be able to graduate with my Associate of Science. I have about a week til Graduation. Time is flying by. Here are some of my favorite memories from the past 2 years here at Snow.Finals week last year, Sheri, Alaina, Justin and I sat in front of a black light for hours drawing on our faces. It was so much fun and I remember being fascinated that highlighters were bright under black light.Melanie, Dani and I went down to Richfield for one weekend to watch a the play "Footloose" and to just see Richfield and Glenwood. It was a fun weekend. :)

Sheri, Alaina and I become White Ninja Cats for a day. I remember Sheri scaring me when I came out of the bathroom! Good times! Lots of fun!Janessa, Lacey, Sam and I last year made Phil, the bunny cake. :) It was around Easter time last year and so we made the cake for our own little Easter party. It was a really fun night that night. These girls are my best friends and I love them to death!

October this year. There was a beautiful thunderstorm going on outside and I was having a gloomy day. I decided that I wanted to dance in the rain, my roomies joined me. We all got soaked but it was well worth it!
One night Bianca, Victoria, Kaitlyn and I decided we'd watch the stars. We went to the practice field and watched the stars while taking fun pictures and listening to music. Loved it!
This day and this whole weekend was a blast. We went to a concert in Salt Lake City featuring Allred, He Is We, and The Rocket Summer. The next day Kaitlyn had 3 photoshoots and we just tagged along. It was a fun weekend where we relaxed and enjoyed ourselves.

Cinderella

Lately I've been feeling a lot like Cinderella. I have 3 weeks of school left before I'm done here at Snow. I've been busy with work, work, work.

I've also been feeling more of the emotional side of Cinderella as well. In the book Cinderella, she's pretty much alone and does all the housework while everyone else is on top of the world. But I do have the attitude that Cinderella has.

I know that I'm not fully alone here at Snow. I have my Heavenly Father to turn to. I also have Brittney, Janessa, and my Mother to turn to when I'm feeling low about my life.

I'm not going to lie. This semester has been the hardest semester I've had in all my college life. I feel like I can't talk to anyone anymore and if I do, people would just take it the wrong way.

Phillipians 4:13 "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me."

Books, Books, Books!

For my Children's Literature class I have to read 125 books. These books go on different genres like picture books, informational books, poetry, chapter books...etc. So far I've read about 68 books. I have 13 books in my room that I am going to read so when I finish those it'll be 81 books so all I need to do is read a bunch of children's books at the library. This is all due in about a week and a half. Yikes. I can do it! 23 more days til I'm done here at Snow College! WOW!

Colors Everywhere!

Like a lot of other people did this weekend, I went to the Hindu Color Festival. It's an Indian celebration of how they welcome spring. They welcome it by chanting a song and throwing colored chalk everywhere. I went last year with my friends and I knew that I wanted to go again. This year was a lot of fun! Of course, when hundreds and maybe even thousands of people throw colored chalk at people and in the air, it covers you completely! It is kind of funny seeing when you shower afterwards and the water is purple for a few minutes just getting all the chalk off your skin. Good times! I'm going next year!

Poems

For my children's literature class I had to come up with 5 poems of my own. I'm not that great when it comes to doing this sort of thing but I'm proud of what I've done. Here are the poems I wrote. I hope you enjoy them! P.S. My professor was so impressed with my first poem that she used it for sharing with the rest of the class. :) cool huh?

Fear

A clown at a carnival

A bee on a flower

A cop driving by

Loneliness

A snake at your feet

The end of the world

On top of a tall building

Monsters in your closet

My Bed

I shimmy into my nice, warm sheets

As my head and my pillow gladly meet.

I look out the window and see a moonbeam,

Wondering what I am going to dream.

I close my heavy eyelids and suddenly yawn,

Knowing all of the days worries are gone.

For tomorrow, my fiancé and I will wed,

But for now, I’m madly in love with my bed.
